The department has evolved over time to meet the ever-increasing challenges of technological development while maintaining a strong foundation in mechanical engineering fundamentals. The primary goal is to produce high-quality graduates through careful and thorough coursework and forward-thinking research activities. Students in the department are exposed to today’s societal problems and are trained to address those problems through innovative thinking in order to develop appropriate technological solutions. Students in the department are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities and workshops in addition to their regular academic work.
The department curriculum meets the industry standards. Metrology and Machine Tools, CAD/CAM, Fuel and Lubricants Testing lab, and Thermal Engineering are some of the department’s cutting-edge technology labs. The department frequently organises many student-centred activities and value-added courses such as Soft Skill Development programmes, CAD-3D Software Training, Quizzes, debates, and so on. The department also organises industrial visits to Thermal Power Plants, design and manufacturing industries, and other industries in order to bridge the gap between industry and academics. The department also encourages students to intern at renowned companies.
The faculty in the department is excellent and are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and dedicated. The Mechanical Department is affiliated with the student chapters of IEI and ASME, which helps students in technical aspects to complete a series of objectives such as technical workshops, seminars, technical fests, and guest lectures that are held every year.
